Hot Stove Local MLB Update

In 2018 the Red Sox and Yankees had a lot of team success with the Red Sox winning the World Series and the Yankees winning 100 games, as for the Mets they enjoyed the success of an individual player with Jacob Degrom winning the NL CY Young, all three teams are looking to be active this offseason.

One thing we know for sure is that both World Series heroes will be back for the Red Sox in 2019, David Price chose not to opt out of contract with 4 years and 127 million remaining on it and Steve Pearce agreed to a one year deal with the Sox yesterday. The question is what do the Red Sox do with Craig Kimbrel and Nathan Eovaldi, Kimbrel struggled in the postseason but he had 42 saves and an ERA of 2.74 and is still one of the top closers in the game. Nathan Evovaldi pitched really well for the Sox after he was acquired from Tampa at the trade deadline he was also great in the postseason for the Sox as well.

The Yankees brought back two of their veterans from their 2009 championship team they signed CC Sabathia and Brett Gardner to 1 year deals, CC to a 1 year 8 million and Gardner to 1 year 7.5 million. The big question is what they do with J.A. Happ who is a  free agent and pitched really well for the Yankees after he was acquired from the Blue Jays at the trade deadline. They can also pick up another starter in free agency Patrick Corbin, Dallas Keuchel and Charlie Morton are all potential options in free agency. The Yankees are expected to go after the two biggest free agents Manny Machado and Bryce Harper right now Machado seems more likely then Harper.

The Mets will start the year with a new General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen replaces Sandy Alderson. When Van Wagenen was an agent he represented Jacob Degrom, Noah Syndergard, Yoenis Cespedes and Tim Tebow. The fact that he represented Degrom and Syndergard it could help the Mets when they try to sign both of them. Lastly it will be interesting to see what the Mets do with Tim Tebow this off season Tebow played AA for the Mets until he was lost for the season due to a broken hand in June.

Going into the holiday season it looks like the Red Sox, Mets and Yankees will all be active .
