Tonight I witnessed the phenomenon.  I would never have believed 10,000 plus people would get together for a women's basketball game.  Young girls, old women, ladies, and yes men of all shapes and sizes filed into the XL center in late February to witness history.  The UCONN Women's team has become a sports phenomenon.  It sounds sexist to say out loud, but I never would believe so many people would show up at a regular season women's game.

I have been to state championships, NCAA tourney games, and WNBA games and nothing compared to what is happening in 2017.  The UCONN Women have now raised the bar for women's athletics and how it can be.  102 straight wins!!!  Are you serious?  When you watch it in person you appreciate a brand of basketball that we all thought had died.  Team defense, great passing, perfect position, and competitive desire dominates the interest.  No dunks, no trash talk.  Just teamwork and great sports-womanship.

UCONN destroyed Temple and no one left early.

It's not just UCONN this year that is packing the gym for women's hoops.  Sunday Syracuse hosted 11,000 to their Carrier Dome for a game versus Notre Dame.  What is going on?  I have been told for years that women's basketball has been unwatchable.  Not in 2017.  Not in Hartford, CT.
