An Instant Classic Sends Notre Dame to St. Paul

You knew it was going to be a good game when it’s #1 vs #2 but this game had a little of everything! There were heavy hits, stupendous saves, skillful scoring, some good ol’ fashion blue collar defense, and even some celebrity cred with the Golic’s in the house!

The 1st period belonged to the Friars as Providence scored early but that would be the only time they tasted the twine. Late in the 2nd period, the Fighting Irish fought back to tie the game at 1. Even later in the 3rd period, when overtime was all but inevitable, Notre Dame stunned the Friars with a late goal. The tally came with exactly 27 seconds left in the game off of a quick breakout by Andrew Oglevie and finished off with a beautiful bang-bang play as Cal Burke set up Dylan Malmquist for the game winner!

Notre Dame will advance to their 4th Frozen Four appearance in school history and take on the winner of the Northeast Region which will be either #2 Michigan or #4 Boston University!
