CT Hoops: Mid Major Conf Wk

Our state's D1 hoopsters are fighting for their season's lives this week. If you win you keep playing and you still have a chance to win a national championship. However, you can also lose this week and still be blessed with another tournament bid.

UCONN and Yale have to wait until next week. No post-season for NEC CT teams CCSU and Sacred Heart.

The American East Tournament features #4 Univ of Hartford. The Hawks match-up with UMASS-Lowell in the first round. The game is 3/9 Saturday at 5p at Hartford. This senior-filled bunch wants to win the whole thing and follow in the footsteps of last year's #16 Amer East Cinderella UMBC. Hartford could lose in the semis and be granted a bid to another tournament. By the way, the Hawks and #5 UML have both beat eachother on the road this season. Hartford won their game by 2 and UML won theirs by 3. The game should be a close one on Saturday. This tournament grants home court to the higher seeds.

The MAAC takes over Albany. #10 Fairfield and #3 Quinnipiac will be playing for their NCAA lives. QU has a shot to get a bid to another tournament this season with a win in Albany. Fairfield needs to run the table in order to keep playing basketball. The MAAC beats eachother up, anything could happen.

Here we go! The madness is upon us.
