The Amazing Amazins

Season Record:2-1

Week in review: Took 2 out of 3 from Nationals on MLB's Opening Weekend

Dudes of the Week: Jacob deGrom (6 2/3 IP, 5H, BB, 10K) Pete Alonso (.500 BA, 3 2B, 1.321 OPS)

Dud of the Week: Zack Wheeler (5 IP, 6H, 4 ER, 7K's , HR)

Snapshot: Were it not for Trea Turner's walk-off HR Sunday, the NY Mets would be going into the first full week of the season undefeated. Still, as it stands, a great start to the season. Right after getting a new contract deGrom, the reigning NL CY Young Award winner, picks up right where he left off pitching in his 30th consecutive start giving up less than 3 runs. Robinson Cano's second stint in NY begins with a bang single-handedly beating the Nats on opening day. The Mets' rookie first baseman Pete Alonso looking like the real deal opening his first season batting .500. However, the last 2 games saw the bullpen get taxed and the Mets scoring runs to bail out their pitching. While the offense is a great sight, the backend of their rotation and bullpen must be consistent in order for the Mets to compete.

Due Up: 4/1, 4/2, 4/3 at Marlins 4/4, 4/6, 4/7 home vs Nationals

What to Watch: Mets linked to top pitching free agent Dallas Kuechel. New offensive identity, no longer looking for 3-R homeruns.
