The Yankees went 5-2 on their 7 game home stand taking 2 of 3 from the Twins and 3 out of 4 from the Mariners and now trail the Rays by a 1.5 in the AL East and begin a 3 game series with them tonight.
Gary Sanchez has been great since returning from the IL he's hit 5 HRs and has 10 RBIs in his 12 games back with the team. One of the Yankees biggest surprises this year has been Gio Urshela he's hit for an average of .354 and had 2 huge hits this week one was a game tying home run on Tuesday night and last night he had a huge 2 run single in the 8th inning.
Domingo German has been the biggest story for the Yankees rotation this year he leads all Yankees starters with a 6-1 record and an ERA of 2.35 . A big loss for the rotation was losing James Paxton last Friday he was placed on the IL with a knee injury, his replacement Jonathan Loaisiga did not pitch well at all Wednesday night going 4 innings allowing 4 earned runs.
The bullpen has really started to find its form since April 23rd Aroldis Chapman, Adam Ottavino and Tommy Kahnle have only allowed 1 earned run combine since then.
This weekend the Yanks have a big 3 game series in Tampa and then head home for a 3 game set with the O's.
