Giants drop opener in Dallas

The Giants dropped their opening game in Dallas 35-17 despite the offense moving the ball for most of the game Shurmur's poor play calling and the defense being terrible prevented the Giants from being competitive.

On offensive the Giants racked up 470 total yards lead by Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley, Engram had 11 Receptions for 116 yards, Barkley finished the game with 120 rushing yards averaging 10.9 yards per carry. The offensive line also had a really good game only allowing one sack. Eli had a good game statistically going 30 for 44 for 306 yards but their were a couple bad plays he made during the game that hurt the Giants offense the intentional grounding in the first quarter and the fumble in the 3rd quarter on 4th and 1. But both of these plays resulted in poor playing calling by Pat Shurmur which was the biggest reason the Giants scored only 17 points and on 2 of these plays he chose to roll Eli out to the right instead of handing the ball off to Barkley. We did get to see Daniel Jones who played the last series of the game he went 3 for 4 on that series but the drive ended with a fumble by him.

In this game the Giants defense was pathetic they gave up almost 500 yards of total offense and allowed Dak Prescott to throw for 405 yards. The only positive to take out of this game was they held Ezekiel Elliot to 53 rushing yards outside of that there were no positives at all. No pressure was applied to Dak Prescott all day long as they didn't recored a sack on him. The linebackers and safeties had a very rough day as well on 2 of Dak's touchdown passes down the seam one to Blake Jarwin the other to Randall Cobb the middle of the field was wide open without a linebacker or safety sight. Lastly it was a very rough day for corners Deandre Baker and Antonio Hamilton .

Player of the game: Because i'll probably give this to Barkley a lot this year i'm going to give it to Evan Engram who had 11 receptions for 116 yards and a TD.

Up Next: The Giants host the Bills in their home opener this Sunday at 1 PM.
