The Bruins headed up to the great white north to take on the Ottawa Senators looking to bounce back from two straight losses, including their first regulation loss in TD Garden as they lost 4-1. They would start this game much like they ended the last game and that’s with mental errors leading to goals. Ottawa would score less than two minutes into the game, then would follow up with their second of the night late in the first period. The Bruins would get on the board just before the first period wrapped up, with Patrice Bergeron scoring in his first game back from a groin injury that held him out for a few weeks.
Early in the second period, the mental mistakes continued for the Bruins as Tuukka Rask came out of the goal to play the puck behind the net and while he and two Bruins defenders all tried to get the puck, the Senators would steal it, find a man in front of net for an easy empty net goal to make it 3-1. Late in the period they would add an actual empty net goal to make it 4-1. With a few minutes left to play, a scrum broke out in front of the Ottawa net ended in Jake DeBrusk putting the puck in for a Bruins goal and keep the B’s alive for the time being.
In the final minute there would be a fury of chances by the Bruins to try and get another goal back, but Ottawa would score on the empty net again with less than a second remaining to end the game 5-2. The Bruins will be back in action on Wednesday night in Washington at 7pm.
