UConn Legend - Football RB Jordan Todman, 2010 All American

Jordan Todman showed up in Storrs a highly decorated and recruited player out of Dartmouth HS in North Dartmouth, Mass...where he ran for over 5,000yds and scored 70 touchdowns...That included a Trip to the DI Super Bowl where he scored 3 times and ran for 199yds..Up next, UConn, despite late interest from Penn St and Boston College after UConn, Purdue and Northeastern offered....And this young man had wheels..a 10.92 100 meters where he won the Eastern Mass D2 gold medal in that event....

Jordan's debut was in week three off the bench in a rout of Virginia...13 carries for 87 yards and his first touchdown that made it 42-3...The Story was Donald Brown with a 200+ yd rushing day...Brown was the story for the entire season when he rushed for over 2,000yds and led the country...Todman 6 carries, 78 yards and a TD at Syracuse and in the International Bowl as the Donald ran crazy, Todman 7 carries for 62 yards...318y and 3 scores in his first year as a Husky. Where Brown left for the NFL after his junior year.

Todman and Andre Dixon carried the load in 2009..and they made quite a duo running the ball...In the opener at Ohio, Todman 25 carries for 157yds and a TD, Dixon 100 in a win...at Baylor while Dixon ran for 149y, Todman added 22 for 103y..The Huskies went to 4-2 with a homecoming win over Louisville where Dixon rushed for 153y on 33 carries and 3 TD's..Todman 8 runs for 63 and a score...That night, teammate and defensive back Jasper Howard was murdered on campus. And the Huskies needed to regroup..The next three games UConn put in three great efforts...each a heart breaking loss..Especially the stunning 28-24 loss to Rutgers at home. Todman the go ahead 2yd run with :38 seconds left...Only to see Tom Savage hit Tim Brown for an 80y TD pass on the very next play from Scrimmage. The 49-47 loss at Cincinnati saw Todman run for 162y and four TD's, including a 46y jaunt....The bye week was needed, and awaiting UConn was a trip to South Bend and Notre Dame...on their Senior Day..Down 14-0, Todman went student body left, cut to the middle and ran 43 yards for a TD...Then down 17-10 in the 3rd, Todman returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards to paydirt. Between Todman's 130y and Andre Dixon's 114, the Huskies wore down ND's defense and won in double OT 33-30..It was Todman's national coming out party...He ran for another 137 against Syracuse and 73 on a snowy night at the Rent....The Huskies went into Bowl Season 7-5...They beat South Carolina in Birmingham 20-7 as Todman gave way to Dixon in his final game..33 carries for 126y and a TD...Todman 9 carries for 36 yards....At season's end, the duo both had 1,000yd seasons...Dixon 1,093y and 14 TD...Todman, a second team Big East Selection, 1,188y and 14 TD's in an 8-5 season.

Jordan Todman was now the man in 2010..And he showed it...105y and a TD at Michigan, 151y and 3 TD vs Texas Southern, 192y and a 59y TD run at Temple....190y and 2 TD against Vandy...123y and a career high 66y TD run against Rutgers....But wins were 3-4 thru 7 games...Then it all came together, starting with a 16-13 win over West Virginia. Todman 113y and a TD...then a 37 carry, career high 222y night against Pitt..130 and two scores at Syracuse and 31 carries for 175y in the home finale against Cincinnati...all wins...Needing a win at USF to win the Big East, Todman was a target, he battled for 93y on 33 carries...The Right Left of Dave Teggart got UConn to the unthinkable, a BCS Bowl Game...The Fiesta against Oklahoma....32 carries for 121yd to cap a 1,695y season that earned him the unanimous Big East Offensive Player of the Year..The first in 10 years....a 1st Team Sporting News All American....and 2nd Team AP and Walter Camp All American...10 of his 15 100y+ games in 2010 and he ran for 100 in 11 of his final 13 games...His 1,695y and 141.2ypg are second most in a season at UConn...

His 3,179y is third most in program history..as his his 31 rushing TD's.. so is his 4,386 all purpose yards and 616 carries..Jordan Todman was the 6th round pick of the San Diego Chargers in 2011, eventually being a part of 8 different teams before retiring after a separated shoulder as a Houston Texan in 2017...This past season, he was an assistant in Jacksonville for Doug Marrone....
