UConn Women land #1 Recruit for the Class of 2021

UConn WBB Announces 2021 Signing Class

STORRS, Conn. –The UConn women’s basketball team will welcome four freshmen to the Huskies in 2021 as head coach Geno Auriemma announced the complete Class of 2025 Wednesday.

The Huskies’ 2021 freshman class includes 6-5 forward Amari DeBerry, 6-2 guard Caroline Ducharme, 5-11 guard Azzi Fudd and 6-2 guard Saylor Poffenbarger.

All four members of UConn’s class are ranked by espnW: No. 1 Fudd, No. 5 Ducharme, No. 15 DeBerry and No. 30 Poffenbarger.

DeBerry, Fudd and Poffenbarger have all played for USA Basketball and won gold.

AMARI DEBERRY

F, 6-5, Williamsville, N.Y., Williamsville South HS

-Ranked No. 15 overall, No. 3 at her position

-Won gold at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship

CAROLINE DUCHARME

G, 6-2, Milton, Mass., Noble & Greenough School

-Ranked No. 5 overall, No. 3 at her position

-2020 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year

AZZI FUDD

G, 5-11, Arlington, Va., St. John’s College HS

-No. 1 overall ranked recruit

-First sophomore to be named Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year in 2019

-Won gold at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup and 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship

-2018 Gatorade D.C. Girls Basketball Player of the Year

SAYLOR POFFENBARGER

G, 6-2, Middletown, Md., Middletown HS

-Ranked No. 30 overall, No. 13 at her position

-Won gold at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship
